WATER AND TRAIN

Jacobite Steam Train

Described as the greatest railway journey in the world. Go between Fort William and Mallaig, to see a list of impressive sights, including the Glenfinnan viaduct (made famous by the Harry Potter films).

Based in Arisaig, get a half, full or multi day kayak trip planned through some of the most spectacular coastal, mountain and island scenery in Scotland. All equipment is provided.

Horse Riding

Horse Riding: Take a horse trek along the silver sands of Morar with SIlversands Trekking Centre.

Swimming

If swimming in the sea doesn’t appeal to you, then visit Mallaig Leisure Centre for a heated pool, sauna, jacuzzi, and gym.

Traigh Golf Course

Visit the most westerly golf course on the UK mainland, Traigh Golf Course. A stunning 'Hidden Gem' golf course.

Cycling

Bikes can be hired from Arisaig’s Land, Sea and Island Centre or from Mallaig Leisure Centre, and E-bikes can be hired from Mallaig e-bikes.

Arisaig Archery

Enjoy an archery session overlooking Loch Nan Ceall. No experience is necessary. Sessions run most days or by appointment.

Deer Stalking

Deer Stalking is available at Lochailort Estate by arrangement with the estate. The first point of contact is with the Lochailort Inn.

The Road to the Isles Marketing Group in conjunction with Angus MacIntyre, has produced a booklet of 15 walks with maps for all abilities!

Highland Games

Mallaig and Morar Highland Games fall the first Sunday in August; Arisaig Highland Games fall the last Wednesday in July, and Glenfinnan Highland Games fall the closest Saturday to the 19th of August.

Beaches

Scotland is known for it's beautiful beaches. Spend time visiting The silver Sands of Morar, Camusdarrach or Traigh Beach. All with stunning white sands and views to the small isles.
